Siblings and Cousins

Not until I put these two photos together did I realize how similar of faces Emily and Nolan are making.  Hilarious.  Ah, siblings.  Below are cousins Emily and Isabella, just 4 days apart.  Isabella is older but Emily sure seems bigger.
And here are the the big brothers, Nolan and AJ, Nolan is almost 1 year older than AJ.  Those are pretend ice creams.
We had a lovely visit with Sus and Geoff and their children.  They boys played really nicely together and the girls did what normal babies do- snooze, coo, drool and poop.  Did you notice that?  I said that Emily acted like a NORMAL baby!  Yes, I think we are moving into less frantic screaming fits.  Oh, things are starting to get a bit better - notice I didn't say easier.

Strawberry Picking

Last week when Nana was visiting we went strawberry picking.  I thought Nolan would really love it.  He seemed neither here nor there about it.  He was, however, very excited when I suggested he wear his snow boots because it had rained very hard the day before.
So snowboots and a fleece that he didn't want to take off despite the warm temperatures he picked strawberries.  Or rather, he held the bucket.  But it was fun to do it.  He ate a single strawberry from the vines- my child, the non-eater.   I was impressed he ate one!  He enjoyed throwing them too, we had to make him stop that...
Emily did ok on this outing, I mostly just kept her in the carseat but at one point she demanded to get out and view the fields.  All in all it was a lovely trip that I wouldn't have been able to do without Nana's help.  Thank you Nana!

Slow Learner

I'm a slow learner.  It seems like EVERYTIME I dress Emily in something really cute, she has a blowout diaper and ends up in the backup outfit stuffed deep in the diaper bag.
So I finally packed a super cute backup outfit and check out how adorable she looks. Yes, that's a skirt.  No more pjs as a backup, she's going to have a super cute backup outfit now.

Video Friday: Talking

video
Emily has been 'talking' tons lately.  Although she's stunned to silence when she sees the camera, these coos are fun, coupled with the smiles really make for a sweet little video.  Have a lovely weekend!

Is There Anything Better?

Than bubbles?
Seriously, there isn't.  Bubbles are fun for everyone.  Nolan was given a new blower that uses a battery and fan.  It makes TONS of bubbles.  And it's so cool!
We often spend some time each morning playing with bubbles.  It's so easy for Nolan to play by himself and the wind is low which allows for more bubbles.  So fun!

Two Months!

When she is not crying she is a very happy girl.  Thank goodness her unhappy moments are happening less and less.  She is really getting to show her personality and it is a really great one!
She is tall, 24 inches (97%) and despite her delicious thighs only 65% weight at 11 lb, 14 oz.  She is perfect despite her "colicy moments".  Doctor suggests that we will begin to see improvements in her screaming.  We already have seen improvements which makes things feel glorious!
Here's to hoping we take more steps forward into blissful babyhood for this sweet girl.

Happy Father's Day

Happy Father's Day, to the greatest father ever.  To the man who wakes up to be the with kids.  To the man who emails me when I'm having rotten days with words of encouragement.
To the man who can tell when I'm at the end of my rope.  To the Dad who uses a different approach from me that helps get the job done.  To my hero, my love, my partner.  I love you.
Happy Father's Day.

Jinxed It

So, of course, I jinxed it.  Emily is happy when she's held.  Suddenly she doesnt like sleeping in her crib... which makes for long days, sore backs and terrible posture...  but check out big boy here.
This sprinkler is fun!  And the dare to take a drink from the wiggley sprinkler was conquered.
 What a great sprinkler!

Dare I Say It?

I think we are turning a corner.  The past few days have had significantly less screaming.  She has actually sat in the bouncy chair, laid (on her back!) on the mat and even in her bed until she's fallen asleep without screaming.  This is wildly exciting.
The world feels less scary now that she tolerates being put down and can keep that pesky pacifier in her mouth.  This weekend was lovely and I even got out for a walk!  Yippee!

Video Friday: Nolan's first sprinkler

video
Gramma brought tons of toys and activities to occupy Nolan during her visit.  It also happened to be 95 degrees while she was here so we set up some water fun.  Check out this sprinkler!  Sadly it broke the second day so we will attempt some repairs.  It seemed funny to have to teach nolan how to play inn a sprinkler, he has never played in one but he caught on fast.  I even got out there in my suit and ran through - no video of that, thankfully!

Thursday Already?

When my Mom was visiting, Great Aunt Judy came for a day and decided to make these awesomely decadent ooey gooey smores cookies.
Oh my word, this boy was in heaven.  so were his parents.  These were some seriously messy treats made nearly 85% of chocolate, they were outrageously delicious.
And made for some funny pictures.  Nothing beats a day of playing the sprinkler ending with dinner in your pjs and ooey gooey cookies for dessert.  Bliss!

Wishes

These are some of my wishes...
I wish Emily could always find her thumb so she could soothe herself, even if she ends up with a finger in her eye.
I wish there was always an extra body or two for her to sleep on.
I wish sometimes another person can feed Emily to give me a break.  While it's not difficult to feed her, it does cut into my 'plans' to do things, like play, clean, shower, etc.
I wish there was someone who could cook every night with Nolan.  He LOVED cooking with Gramma and he ate a lot of the dinner they made.  And it occupied him for an hour before dinner.  And we didn't need to cook dinner ourselves.  Or clean up- THANK YOU Mom!
It's been a wonderful visit with Gramma.  It's been tons of help having an extra person here.  On Friday Gramma and Aunt Judy were here.  I personally think a ratio of 4 adults to two children is ideal...
