Happy Anniversary!

We are back from vacation and before I get into the really wonderful trip we had, I want to wish Dave a Happy Anniversary.
Dear David, Can you believe it?  Five years ago, this was us.  How crazy is that?  Now I won't post any of the morning photos that Nolan took of us while on vacation with our coffee, pjs and bed heads but I will say that while life has changed and sadly I don't take enough time to think about our love, I'm really blessed to have you in my life.
You are an amazing man, one who makes my heart swell and one who makes me feel so happy with you by my side.  We have had an amazing five years of marriage, they have been filled with fun-packed adventures and calm, quiet moments of peacefulness.  You are the yin to my yang and I am so grateful to have you by my side.
Five years ago I didn't think my love for you could get any stronger.  But it has.  It's gotten deeper, fuller and so much stronger than I could have ever imagined.
Happy Anniversary Sweetheart.  I love you so much.

Happy Father's Day!

For Mother's Day I was treated OH so well I realized I needed to do something a bit more than find a shirt to get Dave for Father's Day.  I thought about a bunch of things and truly was stumped on what to get him and how to treat him extra special this one day of the year (ok, I treat him extra special on his birthday too).  So on Saturday night I surprised him by bringing him and Nolan to a Rock Cats game.  It was a good time, Nolan behaved well and we stayed until 830!  What a treat and a surprise!
On Sunday we had brunch with Dave's parents and brother.  Dave chose the food items and I got up early with Nolan.  He also chose a special dessert for dinner and offered to cook dinner.  I must confess, I am so thankful he cooked dinner.  I felt like I was busy from wake-up to bedtime.  It was a lovely day but WHEW, a girl needs a break sometimes!
Dave is THE hardest guy to shop for.  He is so content, he rarely voices desire to own anything more than he does.  If and when he does want something he doesn't hem and haw (or even mention it) he just gets it.  So gift getting is a challenge.  But I did get a 3-photo frame and posted these three photos in it. I don't know what he'll do with it (though I dream he brings it to work to show off his adorable son and his wife's crafty thoughtfulness- thanks pinterest).
I know he had a great day.  I did too.  Happy Father's Day, Dave!

The Many Faces

After taking a bunch of photos of Nolan because he was in a funny mood I realized there was cantaloupe all over his face.  So here are the 'mistakes'.
What a funny bib to wear too!
And a drip hanging from his chin (see below).
He's such a happy kid sometimes.
 What a great little boy.

Camera Shy?

No way, this kid is a 'cheese' kid.  Which is great and slightly difficult because when I take the camera out he stops what he's doing and does his crazy-not-normal CHEESE smile.  He even says 'cheese'.  (where does that even come from, anyway?)
So I was surprised when I tried to take some pictures today and he balled up.  Perhaps this blog might be one where there are few pictures and more words- gosh, I hope not!  Anyway, here's Nolan all balled up playing camera shy and here's one of him being a silly goose.

Nolan is really interested in the blue mailboxes.  I'm guessing his interest stems from an Elmo's World video he chooses whenever he is allowed to watch TV.  The video is about how the mail service works.  And whenever we take a walk we go past a blue mailbox, which he points out the minute he can see it.  I stop, open the top, explain how to put a letter in, that it drops to the bottom and a mailman comes with a key to open it and take to the post office.  Then I realized we could do this little experiment ourselves.  So Nolan painted Gramma and Grampa Jack each a picture. We put them in envelopes, he licked them (even though they were self sealing...) and he put the stamps on.
Then we took our walk and when we got to the mailbox, Nolan put the envelopes in the box.  He seemed really excited about this, look how proud he looks!
Then when Gramma and Grampa Jack got the paintings they skyped with us and showed Nolan the  paintings were received.  Nolan was VERY excited about it and almost as though he couldn't believe it, kept asking them to show the paintings.  I think he gets it and I foresee many more trips to the blue mailbox in our future.

Guess What He Had?

He specifically asked for a brown Popsicle.  I haven't the slightest idea how he knows the fudgescicle is superior to the bright colored ones but somehow he did.
Surprisingly he took a bite and then let it rest on the table for several minutes, ignoring it.  I was surprised at this but he went back to it when it was nice and messy.
I think he loved it, what do you think?
Ah, here come the days of popscicles being a part of our daily lives.  Not a bad thing.  Not a bad thing, at all.

Big Boy in a Box

See, no matter what size box, this kid just climbs right in!  Seriously when did he turn into such a big boy?  Love him!

Safety First

Have I mentioned how much Nolan LOVES wearing his helmet?  It's absurd.  Sometimes he even calls people out when they are not wearing helmets while riding bikes or on motorcycles.  I think he wants to ride his bike or scooter just so he can wear his helmet.  So when we got a hand-me-down helmet Nolan was thrilled to have two helmets.
So he loaned one to his tebby bear.  Here you can see Nolan putting the helmet on Rupert.  Apparently Nolan thought he needed it.  Then he put Rupert down for a nap in the dining room (something he does often, actually).
Seeing Nolan do this is so darn funny.  I'm surprised he didn't try to take him outside and make him ride the scooter.  There's always the future for that.  In the meantime, somehow the helmet made it into our bathroom.  Not sure why but eventually it will make it down for Rupert again soon, I'm sure!
